 | From day one the mission of Klean Kanteen® was to
give people an alternative to plastic or lined aluminum bottles. We
wanted to create a sustainably produced, reusable bottle that was free
of BPA and other toxins. |
| The first Klean Kanteen® was cobbled together from
things we bought at the local hardware store here in Chico, California.
With some fine-tuning that prototype became the 27oz Klean Kanteen®
Classic, the first stainless steel water bottle designed for personal
use. |
| We chose 18/8, food-grade stainless steel instead of
aluminum or plastic because the metal itself is safe and toxin-free.
Stainless steel is made of many elements and minerals, some of which are
actually recommended by the FDA such as iron. Other components of
stainless steel including manganese and chromium are often included in
multivitamins and other dietary supplements. |
| Because stainless steel itself is safe, we don't need
to coat the inside of the bottle with a plastic or epoxy lining, which
is one of the main differences between a stainless steel Klean Kanteen
and aluminum bottles. Food-grade stainless steel is used in the brewing,
food and winemaking industries too. It's the material of choice because
it doesn't retain or impart flavors. |

| How PlatyPreserve works.
1.Pour wine into PlatyPreserve
2.Place cap loosely on PlatyPreserve
3.Remove all air by squeezing PlatyPreserve
4.Tight cap to seal out air in PlatyPrerserve
Since PlatyPreserve is a flexible container, the air can be removed from
the wine by simply squeezing the container to expel ALL of the air. This
can not be done with a rigid glass container. |
| How to clean a PlatyPreserve.
1.Rinse PlatyPreserve thoroughly with warm water (no soap)
2.Turn PlatyPreserve upside down to dry
3.Repeat after each use
Wine storage tips.
The three environmental factors that damage wine are: oxygen,
temperature, and ultraviolet light. The PlatyPreserve solves the first
factor by isolating your wine from oxygen. You can deal with the other
two factors by storing the PlatyPreserve in a cool dark place. Ideally
the storage temperature should be held constant at 50 to 52 degrees F.
Higher temperatures and bright sun or fluorescent lights can damage wine
no matter what the container.
